Have you ever walked on eggshells, never knowing what mood or situation you’d be presented with?
I regularly did the ‘eggshell dance’ with family members, as far back as I can remember.
The mood of the situation was always uncertain, and I’d be very careful not to offend or upset anyone. There would be anger at the slightest provocation, mood swings were prevalent, and I was constantly scanning for signs of an impending issue.
The ‘eggshell dance’ led to a life of my being more reserved than my natural temperament, where I’d be exceptionally careful to say and do the right thing.
I felt anxious to the extent it would show in my skin. I’d stay silent when others would speak, and I had dreams of being trapped living in an environment I couldn’t escape from.
People pleasing and misplaced loyalty were top of my agenda.
This need for constant vigilance I believe made me more instinctual and intuitive, but it also made me a rescuer. I went through a phase of rescuing every ‘stray’ that crossed my path.
One such stray was a friend who kept picking inappropriate relationships.
I invited her to live with me through one of these patches. She had numerous wild, yet short, relationships, and I spent my time rescuing her from the associated dramas.
Although exhausting, it was familiar to me. I felt that I was only worth the number of situations I could resolve.
The truth was that I’d fallen into a pattern of trying to keep the peace, because although she, like me, had come from a background of treading on eggshells, her way of dealing with it was to be a ‘rebellious victim’ rather than a rescuer, creating not peace, but drama.
I decided one day that enough was enough.
I was no longer going to sacrifice my own comfort and truth to avoid negative reactions.
The suppression of my own needs over a long period of time had eaten into my self-esteem and left little room for genuine connection and personal growth.
So, I stood up to family members. I no longer tolerated their mood cycles. I moved away from those who could not control their tempers.
I suggested to my friend that she move to be closer to her beloved grandmother, who I felt would give her the boundaries and discipline she needed in her life.
She did indeed move, the best move she ever made, and she has been happy ever since.
I had learned that, in essence, while walking on eggshells might provide temporary peace, it ultimately undermines the potential for authentic relationships.
True harmony is built not on fear but on trust, empathy, and the strength to stand on solid ground.
Is it time to stop walking on eggshells and start trusting your inner voice? You never know, it could change your life.
This article explores how Intuitive-Sensitives navigate life's unpredictability and our unique relationship with surprises.
I often hear from fellow Intuitive-Sensitives about their experiences with unexpected changes - from everyday disruptions to major life shifts. Some feel exhausted by constant vigilance, while others have learned to trust their predictive abilities as a gift rather than a burden.
Have you noticed yourself tiptoeing around others' emotions? When did you first realise this pattern wasn't serving you? What steps have you taken to stand in your truth while maintaining genuine connections?
Join me in the comments section this week so we can explore these insights together. During the first week after publication, I'll personally respond to your thoughts and questions.
Give the Soul Directed Relationships Meditation a go, even if you’ve never done meditation before – just follow the words.
When the Orphan energy is active, you wait for the rescue that never happened, you feel lost, don’t know where you fit in, you settle for less than you want and you desperately want to go ‘home’ but you don’t know where home is.
The Orphan energy chooses you to create the ultimate rescue, the connection to the self, beyond self-abandonment and into interdependence, the safe, secure world of true self-esteem and value.
When the Lover energy is active, your soul is at odds with your careful ego. You live a life switching between conquering fear, taking risks and the excitement of your consciousness expanding, followed by flopping back into the safety of what you know.
The Lover energy chooses you to connect with your personal source of power that’s not a climb for position or authority, not a power over another but real power - the power within.
When the King energy is active, your inner world is conflicted. Each time you step into your own rules, you hear the voice of the King’s shadow – the tyrant suggesting you are less than, how you’ll never live up to expectations and the weakling ‘prince’ who doesn’t protect your new path.
The solution is to step into the energy of the true King, the matured ‘male’ energy offering centred, confident direction from deep within. The unconscious pressure to ‘fit in’ evaporates as you step into your own leadership. .
You’ve looked around, decided what you like, made judgements and now you’re going out on your own. Does what you want match with others or should you just become what you think they want?
This stage is answered through the process of Creating Your Own Values, by using your Queen Energy.
